Yogi is the 4th generation of his family to cut Capetonians hair. He even has a photo in his shop of an elderly gentleman who has had his haircut by 3 of those generations!
Yogi has been on the Corner of Buitengracht & Dorp Street in Cape Town now for 4-5 years, his barber shop is clean, relaxed, well-staffed, he has the most amazing antique barbers chairs, black and white chess board floor, the red and white baton outside, his staff are exceptionally talented and cut hair with the same level of expertise and passion as Yogi himself, it also boasts a display cabinet which has barber tools from by gone days, newspapers and coffee.
Yogi's Barber Shop is well priced. Yogi started with just himself cutting back in 2006 and now he has extended the shop into space made available by his brother next door and he now employs 4 barbers and a cleaner. All the barbers wear the same white tunics as Yogi. The look from outside enticed me in, looked like the old school barbers we see in the movies. I also lived nearby, but even now I live on the other side of the city I still go there for my monthly cut. The haircut is amazing whether it be a scissor cut or clipper cut, they finish off with a cut throat razor around the hairline from temple to back to give that clean cut, they even offer to do the eyebrows too.
Yogi always has a smile and a story, always asks after the family, he is warm, polite and courteous. The atmosphere in the shop is relaxed and due to this all the customers talk to one another and chew over the issues of the day. Yogi's Barber shop is a multicultural experience, he and his fellow barbers cater for all and have the skills to satisfy any customer’s needs. The price is decent for the exceptional haircut you receive. I recommend Yogi’s because I can guarantee my friends and family won't be disappointed, I know they will experience the exact same as I do when I visit Yogi.
